Federer's New Pro Staff: Black and White is the new Black

Federer Back in White

Roll back the tennis-nerd clock to late summer 2016. Wilson had just launched an updated RF97 Autograph, moving from a red and black colorway to a "back in black" Darth Federer look.  Like most products associated with the "GOAT," the racquets were in serious demand. Roger Federer sat out the clay court season again this year to rest and prepare for a run at the Wimbledon title. His first event was in Stuttgart, Germany and the tennis world anxiously awaited his return. Federer, the consummate showman, took the practice court with an updated RF97 in hand. pictures below.

The frame remains mostly black, and keeps the velvet-feel paint, but at the 3- and 9-o'clock positions the black is contrasted with white accents. Think "Federer...Roger Federer" instead of "Bond... James Bond." The signature is more of a focal point on this release and is highly visible in white across the inside beam of the racquet. Wilson Black in White Wilson has trimmed up the Pro Staff line which now includes the RF97 Autograph, the Pro Staff 97 Countervail, and the Pro Staff 97L Countervail. The specifications are unchanged from the "blackout " models, but Roger himself had extensive design input. Rest assured, Federer fans will be anxious to snatch them up.
