Wilson Rush Pro 4.5 Comfort Breakdown

From the first time I slipped on the RP 4.5, I couldn't believe this shoe has a 6-month-outsole warranty. Usually, an outsole warranty for a tennis shoe means they have to compromise comfort in favor of durability. Most of the time, this isn't a huge deal, as customers understand durability and comfort don't go hand in hand. The step-in comfort on the Rush Pro 4.5 is impressive, and I would place it at or near the top of the most comfortable tennis shoes available today. The flexible and lightweight construction features Wilson's 4D support chassis 2.0, an in-sole Energy Cell unit, and an R-DST+ midsole. The technologies work together to deliver pillow-soft comfort and explosive performance on the court. Wilson made the Rush Pro 4.5 with a 9-millimeter heel-toe drop (DF2) which isn't something to get too hung up on. It provides confidence with each step while keeping a good connection with the court surface.

Rush Pro 4.5 Updated Upper Construction

You have to look closely but Wilson's engineered mesh gets an important refresh with the Rush Pro 4.5. The engineered mesh uses a graduated pattern, which places a larger hole mesh toward the toe box for increased airflow, and a tighter mesh around the heel for support. The concept makes sense, and I didn't notice any lack of support around the ankle. I play tennis mostly outside in warm climates so the upgraded breathability is a godsend. Wilson updated the lacing system to be faster and easier to adjust. The redesigned upper cradles the foot better with the new lacing system, and this makes it easier to custom-fit.

Improved Upper Durability and Support

The refined upper material aids with comfort, Wilson also updated the protection and support on the medial side. A new rubber supplies additional durability and protection against toe dragging. And the drag pad basically runs the whole length of the shoe, which is critically important for players adept with hard court sliding.

Outsole Durability and Traction

Duralast has been Wilson's go-to outsole compound, and for good reason. The Rubber is incredible tough and hard, perfect for all levels of play including high performance athletes. Tennis players will feel in control of their movements with just the right amount of traction. With an outsole this stiff, it is hard to believe the Rush Pro 4.5 remains comfortable, but that is the case.

Should You Buy Wilson Rush Pro 4.5 Tennis Shoe?

If you play tennis regularly, the Wilson Rush Pro 4.5 should be on your shopping list. The shoe has a six-month outsole guarantee, and best-in-class cushioning, Though I didn't mention it before now, Wilson's Endofit is maybe the best full sock construction available on court shoe. When you add that to the redesigned upper, improved lacing system. and bolstered medial support, The Rush Pro 4.5 hits all the marks for what tennis players want from their footwear. It isn't any wonder that the world's best players are wearing the shoe on the ATP and WTA Tours.
